Seddon Festival tunes up to mark 18th year

Seddon Festival returns to the streets this Saturday.

Now in its 18th year, the festival that began in Harris Reserve in 1998 will take in the entire Charles and Victoria streets shopping area.

Music will again be a focal point, spread over three stages across the festival precinct.

Blues sensation Phil Manning will be the headline act.

He will be joined by the Pat Wilson Trio, Kerri Simpson and the Belmar Boys, Les Stacpool Trio and the Ska Vendors.

Local talent will light up the community stage with performances by the Hyde Street Youth Band and school and community groups.

Maribyrnong mayor Nam Quach said the Seddon Festival, part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, offered something for everyone.

“The festival is great, a celebration of our diverse and thriving city,” he said.

A highlight of the 2014 Seddon Festival, the “great waiter’s race”, will return, with Cameron Bobbit from Lady Moustache defending his trophy.

Roving performers Perky & Fiddle from the Netherlands return after their popular performance last year, while entertainers and stilt walkers will roam the streets to add to the festive atmosphere.

A kids-zone will provide plenty of entertainment for children via jumping castles, an animal farm and more.

Seddon Festival will be held from 11am to 6pm on Saturday.
