Fire, anvils, muscle and sweat will intertwine this weekend with Footscray’s second International Blacksmiths Festival on the banks of the Maribyrnong River. Enjoy demonstrations, talks, food and drinks as blacksmiths descend on Footscray’s Waterside Forge.

Car torque

Hobsons Bay Men’s Shed Motoring Group will show their cars and talk the torque at a meet at the Pines Scout Camp, 1 Altona Road, Altona, from 10am-3pm on April5. The event is free to the public. Bring and show your classic or custom car or motorbike and enjoy a sausage sizzle.

Overeaters Anonymous

Do you worry about the way you eat? Overeaters Anonymous may be the answer. It’s not a diet club and there are no weigh-ins, dues or fees. The club meets at 7.30pm on Tuesdays at the Jubilee Centre, Sacred Heart Church, 9 Newcastle Street, Newport, across the road from the church.

Concert Band

The Western Region Concert Band rehearses 9am on Saturdays at Errington Community Centre, Princess Street, St Albans. Entry via side gate next to the football oval (Melway map 26 A1). Vacancies exist for percussion, brass and sax players. Come along, bring your instrument and enjoy playing with us.

Blue Light Disco

The next Williamstown Blue Light Disco is on March 20, with a St Patrick’s Day green theme. Discos for youth from 8-15 are held on the third Friday of the month (except school and public holidays) from 7.30-9.30pm at Newport Baptist Church hall, 26 Mason Street, Newport. Entry is now $7 because of higher insurance costs.

Join one of a series of guided walking art tours in Footscray. Foot It is a series of guided walking tours of galleries, creative spaces, pop-up performances, public art and backyard studios, meeting the artists and makers. The first tour is at 4pm on Saturday, March 28.
