ALP probes branch stacking

An internal inquiry into branch stacking in the Victorian ALP is investigating the use of pre-paid credit cards to sign up people to the Labor Party in the federal seats of Maribyrnong, Lalor and Melbourne. The allegations involve up to 60 new members and relate to events of last year.

Footscray man on stab charges

A Footscray man has been charged over the alleged stabbing of a bouncer outside a nightclub in the CBD on Thursday. Police were called
to Swanston Street about 10.15pm after the man allegedly stabbed the security guard in the back with a small knife. The 25-year-old Footscray man has been charged with conduct endangering life, assault and weapons offences and was bailed to appear in court on June 30.

Car trader fined

A Maribyrnong man has been convicted and fined $12,000 for unlicensed motor car trading and making false and misleading representations about correct odometer readings on 13 vehicles offered for sale. Yuting Wang, 24, pleaded guilty to 13 counts of making false or misleading representations and one count of unlicensed trading.
