Altona: Paws to show you care for Puppy Tales Rescue

A fundraising event for a dog and puppy rescue organisation is being held at Altona’s Cherry Lake this month.

Kerrie Gebert, of Puppy Tales Rescue, says all money from a 3.5-kilometre walk will go to the not-for-profit group, which saves dogs and puppies across Victoria and, in some cases, South Australia and New South Wales.

“The aim of Puppy Tales Rescue is to not only help the lives of dogs on death row but to stop the dumping of unwanted puppies that eventually end up on the street or on death row,” she said.

“Often dogs and puppies taken in by Puppy Tales Rescue need some form of medical attention, whether it’s standard health checks or major surgery, which can be costly.

Sharon Nelson, of Manners For Paws, which organised the Altona event, urged people to bring a picnic lunch and their dogs to support the cause.

“I’m passionate about rescue because it can save the lives of animals that may otherwise be condemned to death or left starving and homeless,” Ms Nelson said. “The joy of seeing a dog find their ‘forever’ home with a loving family makes all the work we do worth it.

“Social dogs on lead are welcome; grab a coffee, visit the Puppy Tales Rescue team and other stallholders and enjoy the morning out with your fur-kids for such a great cause.”

The Cherry Lake Rescue Walk is on April 26 with registration from 8.30am and the walk to start at 9.30am. Registration (cash only) is $10 for adults, $5 for children and $25 for families.

All registration fees will be donated to Puppy Tales Rescue. More information is at www.mannersforpaws.com.au.
