Altona Primary School pupil Tadg O’Neill is one of 2000 schoolchildren who have written messages about protecting the Earth to hang on trees outside Altona’s Louis Joel centre.
Leaves of Change – The Sustainability Trees project was launched on Wednesday as part of Hobsons Bay’s Art In Public Places program.
On show until May 10, the display features trees adorned with handwritten messages from children about ways to protect the environment and how they view the future of life on Earth.
At another tree installation nearby at Melissa Café, messages containing wishes hang with the leaves of a Wishing Tree … the fervent hopes range from hoping all the kids in the Royal Children’s Hospital get better to wanting a Ferrari.
People can put pen to paper and write their own wish to hang on the tree.
Art will pop up in public throughout this month, with 150 artists exhibiting and performing at more than 80 locations around Hobsons Bay.
