Classic cars from across Victoria will converge at Altona on Saturday.
Hobsons Bay Men’s Shed is hosting the Federation of Vintage, Veteran and Classic Vehicle Clubs’ meet at the Hobsons Bay Sport and Game Fishing Club on May 2.
The federation was formed in 1970 and has more than 100 member clubs.
The meet starts at 9am with numerous old vehicles on display for the public to view.
One of those is an original 1959 FC Holden, belonging to Hobsons Bay Men’s Shed president Ken Inglis.
“I’ve had it for just over 10 years and it’s still on its original registration plates,” he said.
Mr Inglis said the federation would have a committee meeting in the morning, then meet with delagates to inform them about the latest issues that may concern their clubs.
“They keep in contact with government and VicRoads, and any changes, they come back to all the clubs. They’re actually the voice of all the car clubs in Victoria.”
On Saturday, the federation committee will award a prize for the best car on the day.
The Men’s Shed has its own car club, The Motoring Group, which holds a Car Torque public display on the first Sunday of the month from 10am-3pm. It is currently held at the Pines Scout Camp at Altona.
