Station Road truck bans

Trucks will be banned from Station Road at Williamstown from the first week of May. Temporary signs and electronic message boards are in place warning drivers about the coming bans, which are in response to residents’ concerns about high truck traffic volumes. A Hobsons Bay council investigation has shown many trucks are using the road as a shortcut between Kororoit Creek and city roads.

Park plans rolled out

Plans have been unveiled for a new park at the former Maribyrnong Council depot on Southampton Street, Footscray. Residents have been seeking open space on the site since it was vacated in 2012. A draft landscape plan has been prepared for the former visitor carpark at the southern end of the site, with plans for a larger park dependent on future environmental assessments.

Parking turnaround

Maribyrnong council has reneged on new parking restrictions for Beevers Street, Footscray, after a petition by residents against the two-hour restrictions, aimed at stopping all-day commuter and trader parking.

Highpoint transformed

Highpoint shopping centre won Victoria’s development of the year at the 2015 Property Council of Australia awards. Victorian Property Council executive director Jennifer Cunich said the $300 million redevelopment had transformed Highpoint.
