A rich history of achievement

Small classes, acclaimed staff and successful learning models are key to the quality education students receive at Haileybury.

Haileybury, one of the nation’s leading schools, is ranked the top independent co-educational primary school in Australia and the No.2 Australian independent co-education secondary school.

Principal Derek Scott, who was educated in Australia and overseas, has developed a deep understanding of education that he aims to implement within the school infrastructure.

Haileybury has high expectations for its students and provides them with the support needed to achieve academically, Mr Scott says.

Working to high expectations has ensured 40 per cent of senior students place within the top 10 per cent in Victoria.

“The junior school students surpass nationwide benchmarks for literacy and numeracy each year. In the senior school, we expect that 40 per cent of boys and girls should be placed in the top 10 per cent in the state, 60 per cent in the top 20 per cent and
a significant number in the top one per cent,” Mr Scott says.

Thanks also to an extensive number of co-curricular activities and state-of-the-art facilities, Haileybury continues to achieve outstanding national testing and VCE results, placing it in the leading group of schools in the country.

Haileybury’s parallel education system is an enlightened method of teaching that is aimed at recognising hybrid forms of education.

The school bases its education system on the belief that students benefit from learning together in their early years and achieve a higher standard of learning in later years through single-gender classes.

The school has a rich history spanning 123 years and provides students with high levels of individual attention as they are taught the importance of resilience and moral values through the commitment to life-long learning.

Haileybury has campuses at Keysborough, Brighton and Berwick and a strong partnership with Haileybury International School Tianjin, just outside Beijing, China.

In 2016-17, Haileybury will open a new campus in Melbourne’s CBD.
