JANET Rice has been selected as the Greens’ lead Senate candidate for the next federal election.
The former Maribyrnong mayor was a founder of the Victoria Greens in 1992 and stood for the 2007 Williamstown byelection.
Born and raised in Altona, Ms Rice lives in Footscray with her partner and their two children. She said it was a tightly contested preselection with 12 candidates standing.
