IT was a solemn weekend for Laverton in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association’s north A1.
The Magpies, minor premiers by the length of Merton Street, capitulated in a shock five-wicket loss to East Keilor in the grand final at Crofts Reserve.
The only positive for the Magpies was the performance of their second XI, who landed the north A2 flag in a six-wicket win over Taylors Lakes after opening bowler Aaron Driver snared nine wickets for the match.
