WALLACE and Gromit fans will have a cracking good time if they visit a new exhibition dedicated to the hugely popular British claymation characters at Scienceworks in Spotswood.
The eccentric Northern England inventor with a penchant for Wensleydale cheese and his smart yet silent dog have attracted a worldwide following over 20 years, picking up countless awards, including two Oscars.
Now they’ve set up shop and house in Hobsons Bay as part of Wallace and Gromit’s World of Invention, which opened last weekend – the first time it’s been hosted outside the United Kingdom.
Using a series of interactive exhibits modelled on devices built by Wallace, the exhibition explores how innovation and inventiveness are part of everyday life.
Set in a life-size version of the pair’s home, it also features for the first time in Australia sets from the much-loved television series and films.
Objects from Museum Victoria’s collection, which showcase Australian examples of innovation, such as the black box flight recorder and electric drill, are also on display.
Tickets are $19 for adults, $7.50 for concession and $6 for children.
