Williamstown Lacrosse team on fire

WILLIAMSTOWN is so on fire in the Lacrosse Victoria men’s state league that alarm bells must be ringing in enemy camps.

The Fearons faced second-ranked Malvern, blitzing them after half-time in a resounding 15-7 win on Saturday.

No club has come close to knocking off the Fearons this season as they notched up a 6-0 record and increased their massive percentage.

Daniel Jennings was the Fearons’ star, the noted goalscorer netting five times to take his season tally to 25 in six games.

Ben Newman scored a hat-trick, while Troy Butson and Aaron Lawman scored doubles.

The Fearons host Camberwell at Fearon Reserve on Saturday.

Footscray is hoping to be a major player come finals and it took another step in the right direction with a convincing 18-11 win over Chadstone at Treyvaud Memorial Reserve.

The Scrays had plenty of avenues to goal, led by five-goal star Daniel Stiglich and hat-tricks to Luke Moore, James Lawerson and Chris Plumb.

Altona’s struggle continued with a 17-6 loss to Surrey Park. The A’s have just one win in six outings.

Meanwhile, one-sided games were the order of the afternoon in the women’s state league on Sunday.

Footscray was brutal in a 16-1 win over Williamstown on the back of four goals apiece to Theadora Kwas and Danielle Mollison, while Newport crushed Eastside 19-1.
