Teen chased, caught, charged over Harrington Square car theft

A 15-year-old boy man was arrested over car theft by police attending an information caravan at Altona’s Harrington Square on Friday.

The van was set up to seek information from the community about the July 20 assault on Jill Brookes, 61, at her bookshop.

Two senior sergeants from Altona North police station observed a youth “acting suspiciously” and when they approached him he took flight.

The boy was found after an extensive search and has been charged with car theft.
