Seabrook pupils have a ball in honour of Paralympics

Seabrook Primary School pupils took part in a goalball demonstration last Wednesday in celebration of Australia’s participation in the London 2012 Paralympic Games. For the first time in more than a decade, a six-strong Australian women’s goalball team has qualified, with competition starting on Friday. Schoolchildren were visited by Australian and Victorian goalball players to gain a better understanding of the sport for the blind and learn how to play. Sebastian, Gautham and Holly (pictured), all 6, donned blindfolds and tried out a goalball, which is embedded with bells. Guest speakers included Andrew Close, whose seeing-eye dog was struck by a car and killed after it was attacked by dangerous dogs.
