Seabrook man on armed robbery, theft charges

A 25-YEAR-old Seabrook man will face court in May on charges of armed robbery and theft of cars following a 10-day crime spree.

Police arrested the man this month at home.

It’s alleged he was seen on CCTV cameras stealing a ute from central Footscray on March 2 with about $17,000 worth of tools in it.

The ute was recovered two days later minus the tools.

Days earlier the man and a 31-year-old woman allegedly stole a car from a house in Braybrook.

They drove the car to a milk bar in Empire Street, Footscray where police said they threatened a woman customer with a small knife and demanded cash.

They then approached a female shop attendant and again demanded cash.

The customer fled and one of the offenders grabbed a mobile phone from the counter ran from the store and left in the stolen car.

Later that night the man and an unidentified man drove the car to Ascot Vale Road, Flemington where they approached a man at a tram stop, pulled out a small knife and demanded property.

He handed over property and they then fled in the stolen car. The victim flagged down a taxi and chased the stolen car, which was eventually driven into a dead-end street. The offenders then fled on foot.

The Seabrook man was arrested on March 2 and evidence relevant to the offences was found during a search of his house.

He was remanded in custody until May 25.

Police are still searching for the other two offenders.
