BRITISH rock star Leo Sayer and Rob Farnham – son of John – are two of the biggest names in the music industry and they’re set to perform in Williamstown on Saturday.
Sayer, who settled in Australia and became a citizen three years ago, headlines a sell-out Last Night of the Proms concert at Williamstown Town Hall.
He will perform with the Western Region Concert Band, Rosa McCarty, and SingWest.
Rob Farnham will join dual-ARIA award winner Monique Brumby and Sunshine singer Daniela Corso in an acoustic concert at Williamstown RSL on Friday.
Corso, who grew up in Albion, persuaded Farnham, who has been working and recording in the United States, and Tasmanian-born Brumby to perform in the show to raise money for the 20th Man Fund’s work with street kids and disadvantaged families.
“It will be an honour to share the stage with two talents like Monique Brumby and Rob Farnham to support youth and struggling families in the west,” said Corso, a finalist in the musicoz awards for unsigned artists.
Williamstown’s Doug Heywood, of Carols By Candlelight fame, will conduct the concert band in the town hall concert.
All three performing at the RSL will sing original numbers from their recent releases. The Williamstown RSL live acoustic event has drawn support from the Way Out West blues and roots music club, which regularly hosts international and Australian rock and blues legends at the licensed club. Admission is $15. Doors open at 7pm.
