FOOTSCRAY’S latest art prize has hit the street with more than $4000 up for grabs.
The Cheaper Buy Miles street art competition is open to any type of work from street and stencil art to more traditional painting.
The competition is the brainchild of Cheaper Buy Miles owner Grant Miles.
Mr Miles said the art prize was a way to liven up the area and to let artists share their talents in a highly visible space.
He said entrants would be given a 2metre-wide by 1.5metre-high spot on the Chambers Lane wall of his store.
“We’ve got some great judges for this. We’ll have Kendal Henry, a street art expert from New York, and Jessica Kease, an artist in Melbourne,” Mr Miles said.
Works must be completed and ready for judging by midnight October 4.
Winners will be announced at 1pm on October 5, with prizes of $4000 for the winner and $500 for the runner-up.
