ALTONA Magic fought its way back from a goal down to beat Dandenong City 2-1 on the road in the Football Federation Victoria men’s state league1 on Saturday.
The Magic has the faintest of pulses in the promotion hunt after rescuing goals from Rini Muriqi and Andrew Kaine.
All three goals in the game were scored in an entertaining second half.
The Magic return home on Saturday for a date with relegation-threatened Whittlesea Ranges at the Paisley Park Soccer Complex.
In state league 2, Altona City did its survival prospects no favours after a nil-all draw with Banyule City. City is now a massive six points beneath the safety zone.
Panagotis Meletis scored the winner in Altona East Phoenix’s 1-0 victory over Preston Lions.
Despite the win, the Phoenix appears destined for a mid-table finish.
Yarraville Glory is still susceptible to the state league 3 drop zone after a 1-0 loss to fourth-placed Melbourne University Rangers.
