ROOTS and blues musician Bruce Williams will launch his Me and the Walls CD at Newport Bowls Club on September 21.
An early obsession with The Band and Bob Dylan led to Williams’ discovery of Robert Johnson, Blind Willie McTell, Norman Blake, Doc Watson, Bill Kirchen, Mike Compton and countless other American blues and country performers.
A founding member of the Turkeyslappers and Diddley Daddies, Williams was joined in recording by two friends and former band mates — Greg Martin, who has played with the Goanna Band and Paul Kelly, and Chris Fogaty from groups such as the Tuff-Tones and Chubby Rae and the Elevators.
Doors open at 7.30pm at 4 Market Street. Entry is $12 or $8 for Newport Fiddle and Folk Club members. Details: nffc.org.au or 0413008717.
