An all-western suburbs season decider has been ruled out after Footscray ran out of petrol to lose 12-11 to Malvern.

The Scray were in a commanding position, leading 9-7 after three periods.

They failed to ice the game and succumbed to a late charge from Malvern.

Williamstown will await the winner of this weekend’s Surrey Park-Malvern preliminary final.
