St Margaret Mary’s Primary School in Spotswood joined thousands of pupils across Australia last Thursday in an attempt to create a new world record. Schoolchildren, including grade 3 pupil Kyra (pictured), took part in the ‘Run around the World’ challenge to celebrate National Health and Physical Education Day. Organisers aimed to set a record for the number of students running on the same day. The challenge was also to get the 40,000 students to walk, skip, jog or run at least one kilometre each and complete the equivalent of a 40,000 kilometre ‘lap of the world’.
