ROBOTIC and mechanised experimental percussion installation performances will be held at Newport’s Substation this Saturday as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival. Curated by Speak Percussion, Automation features free, all-day performances and interactive installations. Speak Percussion’s artistic director, Eugene Ughetti (pictured), said the exhibition proved that art music wasn’t confined to concert halls or elite musicians. Free shows from 1-4pm will be followed by a free community performance at 6pm. A grand finale at 8pm costs $15/$10 concession. Details: melbournefringe.com.au
