Maidstone’s The Block stars Josh and Jenna hammer home ‘think before you drink’ message

MAIDSTONE’S best-known home renovators are urging young people to think before getting hammered.

Josh and Jenna from television-hit The Block are 2012 Ocsober ambassadors, promoting a Life Education campaign for a good night out without excessive drinking.

The Ocsober campaign urges participants to give up alcohol for the month of October.

The couple (pictured) hope their profile from their time on The Block will reinforce their appeal to younger people to think before they drink.

“We have a family member who has been seriously injured on a big night out – they were stabbed in the city,” Josh said.

“It is just the norm for young people as soon as you turn 18, but it’s important to think about your choices. Just because you go out doesn’t mean you have to overdo it.”

Josh said a lot of their childhood friends growing up turned to drugs and alcohol, with boredom a huge contributing factor.

“We were just lucky that we didn’t head down that path. Instead we put all our energy into renovating and achieving our goals, but we do understand how easily kids can go off the rails.”

Josh said that if their message got through and kept even one young person out of risk’s way, they would have done their job.
