VPC: Rain a mixed blessing as Footscray Edgewater clash called off after shaky start

FOOTSCRAY Edgewater’s short trip to Essendon for the Victorian Premier Cricket season-opener was one of three first XI games called off prematurely due to rain.

It was probably a good thing for the Bulldogs, who made a shaky start with the bat as the Bombers claimed the early honours.

The Bulldogs were in a spot of bother on 4-63 after 23 overs when the umpires called a halt.

The Bulldogs will play their home opener against Prahran in a one-day game at Merv Hughes Oval on Saturday.
