Footscray police and the Lions Club will join forces this Sunday to install one-way screws on number plates.
Police say thefts of number plates account for about a third of all vehicle-related thefts. Police will install the screws for free in the car park of Bob Jane T-Marts, 157 Rosamond Road, Maribyrnong, from 10am-2pm.
