An exhibition opening in Altona this Friday is giving new meaning to ‘a night on the tiles’.
Joel Gallery is hosting Class Action, a series of mosaic works by current and past students at Footscray’s Red Girl Mosaics studio.
Julie Stevens, who has been running mosaic classes for a decade, says many of her students are exhibiting their art for the first time.
“The exhibition features a wide range of styles and individual approaches,” she says.
“There’s delicate jewellery and vases, and large pieces like tabletops and wall art. People are guaranteed to find something they love.”
Footscray student Silvana Usher is exhibiting a mosaic of a 1950s classic Ford.
The opening night is at the Joel Gallery, 5 Sargood Street, Altona, from 7 this Friday. The exhibition closes Sunday, November 4.
