VTCA: Clubbers face tough chase

YARRAVILLE Club has been set a tricky assignment to kick-start its premiership defence in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association senior division.

The Clubbers, premiers the past four seasons in the VTCA top flight, will face a tough run chase of 254 when play resumes on Saturday after a steady Beaumaris saw out their 80 overs to make 9-253 on the opening day’s play at Bentleigh Reserve.

New ball operator Emmett Bronca (2-39 off 17 overs) and spinner Matthew Boglis (2-42 off 15) were the pick of the Clubbers’ attack.

Spotswood finds itself on the other side of the coin, setting South Caulfield a target of 241 in their home opener at McLean Reserve.
