Anzac Day commemorations are growing each year and Sunshine RSL plans to do its bit to ensure it continues to grow.
The local RSL observed Anzac Day this year with a march down Hampshire Road on Sunday and a dawn service this morning.
“Our crowds have been getting larger every year,” Sunshine RSL president Gary Collins said.
“Especially with the march, we want to grow that to become a big event in the lead-up to the day itself. It’s great to see people come out of the shops on Sunday to watch the march. There’s no reason it can’t become a big event like the one in the city.
“Next year is 100 years since the end of World War I, so that will be an important … chance to grow our events.”
Hundreds braved the early morning chill to pay their respects at this year’s dawn service.
An Anzac service was also held at the Keilor Cenotaph this morning involving the Keilor Historical Society and the local scout group.
