Altona North school children last week dressed up as superheroes to keep each other safe from bullying.
Pupils at St Leo the Great Primary School were celebrating National eSmart week, an initiative by The Alannah and Madeline Foundation to improve cyber safety and reduce cyber bullying.
The foundation is a national charity that aims to keep children safe from violence.
St Leo is one of more than 2200 eSmart schools nationally where children are taught to embrace responsible use of information and communications technology while avoiding the pitfalls.
Teacher Cathy Green said children were encouraged to be superheroes to fight against bullying.
“We just continually try to promote good behaviour,” she said. “Every grade has a buddy grade … we find we have less playground issues because children know children across all year levels.
“We run clubs at the school, as well, to promote children working together.”
On the dress-up day, children came up with slogans superheroes might say to encourage people to be nicer citizens.
