Work has begun on the expansion of the Caroline Springs Leisure Centre.
Local Government Minister Marlene Kairouz and Melton mayor Sophie Ramsay were on hand for the official start of the
$5.8 million project last week.
It will mean the addition of two indoor multi-purpose courts, unisex change rooms, spectator seating, landscaping and accessible amenities.
Ms Kairouz said the expansion was necessary to ensure the growing population in Caroline Springs and surrounding suburbs had easy access to a wide range of recreation
facilities.
“This will mean better sport and recreation facilities for Caroline Springs families, close to home,” she said.
“Through our Growing Suburbs Fund we’re building the new facilities that our rapidly growing outer suburbs need.”
Cr Ramsey echoed the minister’s sentiments.
“It’s fantastic to see quality sporting facilities being built in our city, encouraging people to get fit and active,” she said.
The leisure centre expansion work is
expected to be completed by December next year.
