A new girls’ school will open in Caroline Springs in 2018.
Caroline Springs Girls Grammar –part of the Australian International Academy – will open for term one next year, initially offering years 6 to 10 in its first year before adding VCE levels in 2019.
It also hopes to eventually be able to offer the International Baccalaureate program.
When fully operational, the school will have places for 450 students.
The academy already has a campus in Caroline Springs. This new school will be a girls-only campus.
On its website, the academy states it aims “to have graduates who are well prepared and self motivated to advance Australia and to participate effectively as world citizens with Muslim values”.
Academy marketing manager Abdel Elzanaty said the Caroline Springs Boulevard address was an appealing location for the new campus because it is part of a growth corridor in Melbourne.
“We already have one campus in the area, so this will complement that. There is also a large Islamic population in the area so that was a big drawcard for us.”
The academy was established in 1983 as Australia’s first Islamic school, and has six campuses across Melbourne, Sydney and United Arab Emirates.
