Police investigate brawl in Footscray barbershop

Police are seeking witnesses to a brawl in a Footscray barbershop in which a man was hit in the head with a tomahawk.

Hair clippers, chairs and a broom were also used as weapons in the clash involving up to 15 men at the Nicholson Street business.

A group of men who entered the shop about 5pm on June 23 became involved in several fights with customers in the barbershop.

One man was struck to the back of the head with a tomahawk and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

About $600 was taken from the cash register during the brawl, which did not involve any staff. Police believe those involved were known to each other.
