Triple the birthday fun

It’s the kind of one-in-a-million happening that couldn’t be planned.

Three generations of one family – grandma Leanne Wilson, her daughter, Kelly, and Kelly’s daughter, Scarlett Szkudlarski – have the same birthday.

Little Scarlett came into the world on March 31 this year following a speedy labour at Werribee Mercy Hospital. Her mum, Kelly, was born on March 31, 1988, and grandma Leanne, on March 31, 1963. All three were delivered naturally.

Kelly said when she found out that Scarlett’s due date was March 30 – only one day off her and her mum’s birthday – she had her fingers crossed for the birthday trifecta.

“On my birthday, me and [two-year-old son] Hunter had breakfast, sat down to open up a present, and afterwards, as I stood up, my water started to trickle,” the Wyndham Vale resident said.

“That was 8.10am … and she was born at 11.53am. It’s beautiful, because she’s my first daughter and I’m my mum’s first daughter.”

Her mum, Leanne, added: “I was there for the actual birth, which was fantastic. It was meant to be.”

Kelly and Leanne have already worked out that when Scarlett turns 21, Kelly will be celebrating her 50th birthday and Leanne her 75th.
