Homicide Squad detectives have arrested and charged a South Yarra man over the death of a two-year-old girl in Footscray in 2005.
Police have charged the 36-year-old with murder, manslaughter and assault-related offences.
He has been taken to the Melbourne Magistrates’ court where he is expected to appear later on Wednesday.
