Expressions of interest open for art project

Applications are now open for creatives within Hobsons Bay to take part in Wunder Gym’s Forward Motion arts program.

Creatives in Hobsons Bay are encouraged to submit expressions of interest to participate in Wunder Gym’s Forward Motion arts program and have their works displayed at the 2022 Melbourne Fringe Festival later in the year.

In collaboration with Wyndham council, the council is seeking 30 participants to respond to a brief that follows the theme ‘future insight’.

Through workshops and shared resources, artists will create work for an exhibition across multiple sites within both municipalities.

Successful art pieces will be displayed at an exhibition at 2/10 Watton St, Werribee for the duration of the Melbourne Fringe Festival, as well as large public art installations located at Laneway Gallery in Laverton and the Altona Civic Centre.

Wunder Gym founder Annette Wagner will host two online information sessions on Sunday, July 31 and Sunday, August 7.

The program will run from August 12 to October 29 and applications close Wednesday, August 10 at 5pm.

Ms Wagner said the program will provide participants with support to achieve their artistic goals.

“Communities have the power to stir change through creative dialogue and expression, and creativity benefits learning from many different sources,” she said.

“That’s how the Wunder Gym achieves its best outcomes for all involved, through a prompt, mentors, exhibition deadlines and a creative, like-minded and supportive community.”
