Wyndham Vale man charged following West Gate Freeway crash

A 21-year-old Wyndham Vale man has been charged by police following a collision on the West Gate Freeway in Spotswood which claimed the life of a man.

Police allege a silver Ford Falcon XR6 sedan was travelling outbound along the West Gate Freeway near Williamstown Road on Tuesday, July 5, when it collided with a truck at about 10.35am.

The passenger in the car was a 22-year-old Truganina man, who was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

He died in hospital on Wednesday, July 6.

The driver of the car, the Wyndham Vale man, has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, six counts of reckless conduct endangering life and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

He remains in hospital and the matter will be heard at Melbourne Magistrates Court today (July 13).

Police also arrested three other men aged in their 20s who were in the car and released them pending further inquiries.

The two male occupants of the truck were not injured.
