Open space for fun and play

Williamstown’s MacLean Reserve has officially reopened following a recent revamp.

Williamstown MP and Suburban Development Minister Melissa Horne and Environment and Climate Action Minister Lily D’Ambrosio visited the new facilities on Wednesday, July 13.

Delivered as part of the state government’s $315 million Suburban Parks Program, the works included the installation of an accessible carousel, a new swing set, a paved picnic area and new garden beds.

Ms D’Ambrosio said the new green space was a “safe and accessible” place for people of all ages to enjoy.

“As our suburbs continue to grow, we’re making sure Melbournians have easy access to much needed open green space to exercise, relax or just enjoy the outdoors,” she said.

“Our parks and gardens are what makes Melbourne one of the most liveable cities in the world.”

Williamstown MP and Suburban Development Minister Melissa Horne said the upgrades joined 16 other completed upgrades, with works on the remaining 24 parks already underway, including Cruickshank Park in Yarraville.

“We’re supporting local councils to provide their communities with truly unique and inclusive playgrounds and MacLean Reserve is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through this program,” she said.
