Footscray MP Katie Hall said Footscray has received everything she had hoped for in the 2023-24 state budget.
Footscray West Primary School will receive $9.3 million to give students a new gym, canteen, food tech space and music room, while St Margaret’s Primary School will also receive $2.6 million.
Ms Hall said she is delighted with the outcome of the state budget.
The budget also includes $500,000 towards planning to deliver a new VICSES unit for Footscray following the October 2022 floods.
“I’m thrilled with the local outcomes for this budget, the Andrews Labor Government is delivering on every election commitment, with some additional measures to support organisations such as the Footscray SES,” she said.
Ms Hall said new comprehensive women’s health clinics at Footscray will provide care and support for conditions like endometriosis, pelvic pain, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), perimenopause and menopause, and there are plans to build a new Mental Health and Well being Local in Footscray.
Shorten-Barrett Reserve will benefit from $10 million towards its masterplan, which will include a new multi-use court together with oval and pavilion upgrades.
The Buddhist community will receive $250,000 for Chua Quang Minh temple in Braybrook and $150,000 for Fo Guang Shan temple in Yarraville.
A targeted investment of $10 million will go towards Australia’s first Centre for Paramedicine at Victoria University.
A $200,000 grant will go towards supporting the creation of murals in Footscray.
Ms Hall said she has been advocating to the fullest for Footscray locals and this budget reflects their efforts.
“Each year I work hard to secure funding across the inner-west and this Budget delivers all of our election commitments of last year in full,” she said.
“Making these funding commitments happen is an ongoing process and it’s been great to work with local community organisations and residents on the things that matter to them.”
