Settle in folks, you’re more than welcome

DOZENS of refugees from across Melbourne’s western suburbs have taken the final step in the journey to becoming Australian citizens.

Sixty-five refugees across the west officially became citizens in a ceremony put on by the Western Bulldogs as part of last week’s Refugee Week celebrations.

The seventh annual citizenship ceremony at Whitten Oval was a highlight of the Bulldogs’ community calendar.

Several of the new citizens had taken part in the Bulldogs’ settlement grants programs supporting newly arrived people to make the west their home.

The majority originally came from Burma, but a range of other nationalities was also represented.
