Spotswood performing arts school helps build path to centre stage

Whether your child wants to dance, sing or get involved with drama, Artz Collective Performing Arts School in Spotswood will encourage them and set them on the right path.

Founder and principal Ziggy Clements has spent more than 20 years dancing, singing and acting and enjoys sharing her talents with up-and-comers.

“A school run by professional musical theatre performers and former dancers — such as myself and our other instructors — certainly makes a difference,” Ziggy says.

“We inspire students to try their best and become even better. And we can help them have their own career on stage.”

Artz Collective students in the under 8 years category won all three medals at the Victorian Performing Arts Challenge for singing last year.

“Our show group medalled strongly throughout the year and every student placed in the school’s first Irish dancing competition,” Ziggy says. The students also had a 100 per cent pass rate for all vocal and dance exams.

“TV shows like X Factor and Australia’s Got Talent encourage our students and it’s terrific to see boys and girls giving their best.”

Classes start for students aged from 18 months progressing through to adults, and are becoming increasingly popular with boys.

“We have lots of boys in our breakdance, Irish dance and hip-hop classes.”

This year a short course in musical theatre will be run by Ziggy, while next year students have the chance to perform at Disneyland in California and do classes in Los Angeles.

“We did this trip in 2008 and it was amazing. Such a wonderful experience for families and students alike.”
