It’s not every day developers give back to the community, but Cedar Woods has done just that.
The developer has allocated $20,000 to 24 community groups in the Wyndham and Hobsons Bay areas as part of its Williams Landing neighbourhood grants scheme for 2012.
Since the scheme began in 2009, Cedar Woods has donated $80,000 to more than 70 community groups and organisations.
Long-standing grants committee member and Point Cook Community Bank branch manager, Dora Pyke, spoke of the significance of the scheme.
“The Williams Landing neighbourhood grants contributes back to the local community, helping organisations and volunteers continue their amazing work. I was honoured to be a part of it,” Ms Pyke said.
Cedar Woods state manager Nathan Blackburne commended this year’s winners.
“We’re all inspired and appreciative of the tireless work undertaken by not-for-profit organisations within the wider Williams Landing community.”
He added it was the community spirit and efforts of those organisations that made Williams Landing a sought after address.
This year’s recipients include sporting clubs and primary schools.
