YOUR VOICE: November 7-13

Re. Online mystery across region as NBN is scaled back (Weekly, November 6)

They will push Australia back to the last century. Has anyone ever seen Abbott with an electronic device or computer?

Why the surprise? Is this not why the Coalition was elected?

Footscray development: Towering blast for planning minister (Weekly, October 30)

Planning Minister Matthew Guy has a fetish for “growth” and high towers.

His personal preferences should not be enforced onto the public, against their will and leaving them to pay for the extra infrastructure.

He’s paid as a public servant, not to undermine the community.

Considering we are meant to live in a democracy, Mr Guy is riding rough-shod over any community concerns and enforcing his own preferences against the judgement of the public.

There’s no great rush to live in these towers. Southbank has many vacant apartments.

This decision is about wantonly creating jobs for property developers rather than being based on rational planning and public need. Matthew Guy, Mr Skyscraper, is out of his depth and should resign.

Politicians should be objective, not heavily involved in promoting an industry.

When Sarah Carter was mayor, the council rejected an industrial rezoning in a residential street and was then completely silent when the minister secretly rezoned the site months later for the second-richest family in Australia, without  telling the council, the residents  or even the other affected land owner.

Little wonder the minister treats the council with contempt. And funny how councillors Carter and Michael Clarke have found a voice now that the ALP has lost control of the reins.

Westies on trail of the besties for special dishes (Weekly, October 30)

I think everyone should be allowed to vote for the winners from a list of nominees (picked by Kenny and Lauren). Not really a fair assessment with just two people picking the overall winners.

No one works harder at their jobs than these two. Can’t wait to see what they come up with!

Re. Agency may aid in zero carbon push (Weekly, October 30)

There was almost universal scientific consensus on the earth being flat, too, and look how that turned out.

Honestly, please concentrate on doing your job and don’t waste my already excessive rates on yet another independent agency to deal with what is not a pollutant in any event but is in fact an essential part of our everyday lives.

The climate changed long before humans arrived and will continue to change long after we are gone.
