Laverton P-12 College provides an inclusive learning environment, offering pathways to success for every student. From their formative primary years right through to their senior secondary education, the college curriculum focuses on developing every student to reach their potential.

In addition to the academic curriculum, the college also provides students with the opportunity to participate in co-curricular activities, from board games and lunchtime clubs to the college rockband and afterschool music program Crashendo.

Learning starts in students’ early years through flexible and creative programs, where core literacy and numeracy skills are developed through the use of explicit and direct instruction to support, challenge and extend the students’ learning and thinking skills. In addition, students engage in a wide range of specialist classes, including the Arts, Music, Physical Education and Science to complement their academic learning.

In the middle years, a combination of instructional and student-centred learning is used to broaden analytical thinking and problem solving. The college provides the learning experiences and foundation for students to become responsible and active citizens. The depth of their learning prepares them well for the years to follow, through the development of strategies that build resilience and encourage growth in all aspects of their education.

Laverton P-12 College’s senior years development commences in Year 9 and Year 10 programs, which are designed to prepare students to succeed in their Year 11 and Year 12 educational pathways. The VCE and Vocational Programs in the senior years offer a range of subjects to ensure that there are programs to suit all students’ interests.

The college offers the opportunity to undertake either VCE or VCAL as well as a wide range of VET subjects, provided through the Hobsons Bay VET Cluster.

Laverton P-12 College focuses on supporting each student through its secondary programs to equip and further develop student learning, and to allow for a successful transition into further education, training or employment upon graduation.

Laverton College works with students to embed the school values of ‘Belonging, Learning, and Succeeding,’ allowing students to graduate not only with a quality education but equally a sense of justice and compassion, the ability to cooperate, collaborate and persevere with effort towards future success.
