IN FOCUS: Success off the Charti

On December 22, 2017, Charti directors Dave Oakley and David Cheng opened the latest warehouse and showroom in Williamstown North.

The official opening was announced by Ray Horsburgh AM, businessman, company director and former Essendon president.

After Ray unveiled the plaque marking the event, the surprise of the day came when Mr Oakley and Mr Cheng presented a cheque for $1000 to the local Williamstown Football FIDA Club to help with the clubs running costs for this year.

Dave says it was a pleasure to make such a donation to the club and commended Rob Klemm’s outstanding commitment in helping young adults with special needs to achieve great things.

He says that being active and contributing in the communities in which we operate is fundamental to our business values.

“In simple terms,we live here too, so give where you live,” he says.

It was a particularly significant event for the Oakley family and the club, because December 22 is the late Dan Oakley’s birthday.

“Go Long With The Wind!” Dave says.

“In Ray Horsburgh’s speech he touched on something that ties in perfectly with the values that underpin our business model.

“He talked about the importance of Australian-owned and specifically, local businesses in supporting local communities.

“He talked about the facelessness of globalisation and the businesses that are a part of that.

“It’s a powerful idea for us, because we are particularly focused on community, both locally and the professional one we are building; helping our clients grow, on building with them.”
