Train derails near West Footscray railway station

V/Line train services to and from Albury are being replaced by buses after a derailment in West Footscray.

A Pacific National freight train derailed on Friday morning about 10.30am, according to a V/Line spokeswoman, forcing cancellation of all trains to and from Albury.

Both the noon Melbourne to Albury V/Line train and the 12.45pm Albury to Melbourne V/Line train have been replaced by buses, said the spokeswoman.

She said the evening Melbourne to Albury train – and Albury to Melbourne train – could also be replaced by buses if the derailment was not cleared in time.

Trains to Seymour – which is on the Albury line – are not affected, she said.
