Play Along Sessions

The Newport Folk and Fiddle Group Beginner Play Along group offers a great way for you and your family to connect to music. Pool Info Session

New laws are now in place for Victoria to have all pools and spas meet compliance requirements every 4 years. Willy Pools will host an information morning in conjunction with Hobsons Bay council for people to get more clarity and help about requirements. Free event at Willy Pools on Saturday, Oct 22 from 9.30am to 11am at 2/5 Southey Street, Williamstown North. Bolder exhibition

Now open at Footscray Community Arts at 45 Moreland Street in Footscray, Bolder is an inter-dimensional art exhibition exploring Augmented Reality [AR] and expanded sensory experiences from ArtLife artist-in-residence Steven Tran. ArtLife is a program platforming artists with disability through residencies, creative development, presentation and workshops. Using pencil and paint enhanced by AR, each work shares with the viewer a different and more intimate part of the artist’s inner world. The exhibition will be open until Sunday, October 30. Free.

Community bank fair

The Bendigo Bank Community Bank Altona and Laverton branches are celebrating 22 years of supporting the Hobsons Bay and Wyndham communities with a Community Fair. Altona’s Logan Reserve from noon until 5pm on Saturday, October 15. Activities include a free sausage sizzle, a petting zoo, face painting, stalls and vehicle displays, as well as a performance from The Voice Generations stars Tim and Caitlin Rizzoli.

Making Noise

Making Noise will be running a series of live performances and silent auctions to raise funds for Full Stop Australia. The event will involve a range of advocates, artists and speakers, and will be offering discrete opportunities for counselling and further support during the course of the night. Walking group

The Altona Meadows & Newport Heart Foundation Walking Group is a local community of men and women committed to walking and socialising together for about 60 minutes. Altona Lions Club Cherry Lake Market is held on the first Sunday of the month. Set between Millers Road and the stunning Cherry Lake in Altona, this market has something for everyone. Carers’ Walk and Talk

Pathways for Carers is running free walking events in Laverton. The state government funded project which is supported by Interchange Outer East meets once a month for a walk followed by complimentary morning tea with a guest speaker who provides informal information about services relevant to carers and the local community. Carers who participate in the groups are defined as unpaid and caring for a loved one with a disability, mental illness or an elderly person. The goal of each group is to provide carers with peer-based support, information, services and resources, opportunities to be active and connect with other carers, connect with nature and connect with their local community.
