Residents, drivers and commuters are again being asked for feedback on Hobsons Bay council plans to make streets one-way and implement two-hour parking restrictions north of Seaholme train station.
The station has 10 defined parking bays for commuters, including two disabled parking bays, and limited parallel parking accessed by mounting a kerb on the southern side.
As reported by Star Weekly in March, some commuters were angered the changes meant no all-day parking north of the station and could deter people from catching the train.
More than 80 submissions from the community were received by the council.
The council has since dropped proposed changes to Waratah Street and Wattle Grove.
It plans to make Central and Acacia avenues one-way, with two-hour parking on the northern side of Central Avenue weekdays from 9am-5pm.
Parallel parking on the southern side of Central Avenue would be unrestricted.
The council also plans to mark out 46 on-street parking spaces.
Residents of affected streets would be eligible for resident and visitor parking permits, exempting them from time restrictions.
A council document states the changes are necessary because the Victorian Road Safety Regulations require three metres of clear space for a car to safely use a road.
“The streets in this section of Seaholme do not currently meet these requirements and therefore do not safely accommodate two-way travel for cars and parking on both sides of the street,” it states.
“Council appreciates that the one-way traffic will increase local travel times by a few minutes and will require residents on the right-hand side of Acacia Avenue to place their bins on the other side of the road for collection.”
The council is inviting feedback until Wednesday, July 22.
