The opening date of Melbourne’s newest food precinct, Grazeland, has again been delayed, this time due to paperwork.
The 10,000 square metre Spotswood venue is now scheduled to open on Friday, March 26 at 5pm.
Located next to Scienceworks, Grazeland will have more than 50 sweet and savoury food vendors, three bars, two stage areas, roving entertainers and live entertainment.
Designed to cater for up to 30,000 people a week, the precinct is set to be chiefly open air but with extensive covered areas.
Initially set to open early last year, Grazeland was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.
It was then scheduled to open on Friday but this has been pushed out one more week.
Grazeland director John Forman said it was bitterly disappointing.
“To deliver an unparalleled dining experience such as Grazeland, there are a multitude of safety and certification requirements that are beyond our control and, sadly, we have been unable to receive the appropriate paperwork to open in time for this Friday,” he said.
“At such a late stage in the game when everyone involved has worked tirelessly, this is bitterly disappointing.
“We are now working with the relevant parties to expedite the paperwork so we can throw our doors open as soon as possible.”
Grazeland’s food will include pizza from 48h, cannoli from Cannoleria by That’s Amore Cheese, Bengali-style curries from The Calcutta Club, freshly-shucked oysters and lobster rolls from Claw and Tail, frozen cheesecake from Stix, family-favourites from Hooked Fish and Chipper, African barbecue from Tasty Suya and authentic gelato from Cielo Gelateria.
Grazeland, at 20 Booker Street, will be trading Friday nights and weekends.
Opening hours are Fridays from 5-10pm, Saturdays from 12 -10pm and Sundays from 12-9pm.
Entry is $2.50 for those aged 12 and above.
