Be part of the rebirth of one of the west’s most beloved festivals when Emerge in the West: Culture Conversations hits Footscray this month.

Running since 2012, Emerge in the West has become a firm favourite on the Footscray festival calendar, celebrating the richness of African cultures with an array of music, fashion, dance and food events.

The two-day ‘Culture Conversations’ event on June 15 and 16 will feature performances and screenings of local African Australian artists, combined with community conversations to help re-vision the Emerge in the West Festival.

Sessions will explore how Emerge in the West can use art and performance to engage young people, support the development of the African business district, and address cultural responses to Footscray’s changing demographics and development.

Presented by Multicultural Arts Victoria, the event will feature performers including P-UniQue, Embrace Your Frizzique, Ez Eldine Deng and South Sudan Voice.

Sessions will each address a different topic and will be held from 2pm June 15 and 16 at Africa Town café and VU Metro West.

All sessions are free, but booking are advised.
