Local former test cricketer awarded Medal of the Order of Australia

A Williamstown local has been awarded a medal of the Order of Australia for his service to sport.

Anthony Dodemaide was recognised for his service to sports administration and cricket.

Dodemaide played 10 Test matches and 24 One Day Internationals for Australia from 1987-1993, and also played 150 matches for Footscray Cricket Club during the 1980s and 1990s.

Dodemaide has also been involved with Cricket Victoria, having been the Chief executive from 2007-2018.

Since 2019, he has been the general manager of Hockey 1 League for Hockey Australia.
